Mekong Catfish Attack!

It was supposed day, weather forecast says sunny and bright day, and so we met up at the usual coffeeshop at 5:45am for some usual breakfast and stuff before proceeding to feed our fishing addiction.

6AM: Rain!
O.M.F.G! It's not supposed to rain! NO FREAKING WAY! Nothing will stop us from fishing! Braving the rain, we finally hit the arena! God, however, has other plans...

As if the rain was not enough, apparently some bloody company, in an effort to cut cost, decided to book the ENTIRE session pond for a company event! GREAT!

After some discussion, we decided to hit the legendary FW3 Ed's Pro Pond. Upon arrival, we decided quickly to hit the CnR pond for the biggies as Ken and Wanling has never fought a fish before. We paid for 3 rods and proceeded to look around before fishing.

Anthony and Wanling decided to use the fresh tembans I bought along while Ken chose to go with the rubbers dBs- recommended on our Changi trip (dBs- if you are reading this *CR COUGH CR* LOL ) at Changi Pro.

It was not long before we heard the sweet chime of running lines and bending rods!

Ken fighting his 1st fish

Me, Ken and Anthony took turns to fight the fish, judging by the strength, I thought it would be rather big, easily over 15kg. It took nearly an hour before we finally surfaced it despite Ken running a 2500 reel!

The Giant surfaces!

Ken's 1st fish caught, welcome to the club!

The worker handling the fish estimates it at a massive 30kg, Ken was still in a state of nirvana and only remembered that he didn't take a picture with the fish only after we released it! LOL OWNED!

Close up of the "not so gentle" giant.

Things started to get pretty quiet so we decided to break for lunch, after landing that 30kg fish, we proceeded to lunch with a lighter mood and aching arms! Things didn't pick up after lunch but we were still very happy with the results of that 1 fish!

After 2 hours of waiting, I thought we could be doing something wrong, that was when I noticed that we were the only people using floats! Upon realizing that, I changed wanling's rig to a single hook apollo with a size 3 sinker and true enough, before long, SWEET CHIME MUSIC!

After setting the hook and also realizing that this fellow we got is not really big, I decided to hand over the rod to wanling for her to fight the fish.

Me handing over the rod to Wanling.

"No no, you don't reel when he runs, you pump the rod, reel in any slack lines."

The fish surfaces! (Why like so small de -.- )

Happy Wanling and her 1st fish, welcome to the club! 1st blood!

Close up of Wanling's virgin fish!

Having tasted sucess with the apollo, I too, switched mine to the same rig, 5minutes later, SCORE!

Letting the guys have a turn at fighting my fish after setting hook and all.

Wanling almost could not handle the fast reaction of this Mekong.

Ehhh Why no one take pictures of me when I am fighting fish?? TMD!

The fish surfaces!

I wouldn't forget to take pictures with my fish, not like certain people :P

Ken with the fish, 30kg forget take, take 15kg lah, same :P

After that fight, we decided that today has been very fruitful, I would like to thank the company for booking TMJ paypond or we wouldn't have came here in the first place! Special thanks to gonefishing and dBs- of Handlingfish for recommendation of the place and picking the rubber for Ken's 1st fish (He got a 2nd but his leader burst due to abrasion).
